Dr Leahy has a passion for health care, and helping people. Basically, if one treatment is not the best for patients, he won't use it, and will research constantly to find the best. Why would any doctor want to provide second best to his patients? It's really about people, and doing the right thing. That is why he teaches all over the world, is actively doing research. He wants to make a difference.
Dr. Leahy is married to Qiuping, from Beijing, and has four children. They are a huge part of his life, the most important really. Sean is in Southern California, married to Christina and working with college students. Megan is in Montana where she and her husband Lance run a cattle ranch. Arisa is at Los Gatos High School and is a star in the color guard and academically. Ty is at Harker, and has more energy than anyone.
Dr. Leahy has played most sports in high school and college, competed in amature golf, triathlons, marathons, tennis. Having done most sports helps to understand what athletes are going through, and why some injuries occur, and what they feel like. Working with athletes at a world class, and amature level is a great part of his practice. To Dr Leahy there is nothing better in his practice than seeing that smile on someone's face when the pain a patient has had for a long time, and thought it would never go away, suddenly does. Priceless.
